Falls City Medical Society unites physicians of African descent to promote the science and art of medicine, championing representation, access, and clinical excellence since 1902.
Founded in 1902, Falls City Medical Society was chartered by visionary Black physicians who were instrumental in establishing Louisville's Red Cross Hospital and later integrating both the University of Louisville School of Medicine and the Jefferson County Medical Society.
Re-chartered in 2017 under the leadership of Dr. Lewis Hargett and the founding executive committee, we continue that legacy, improving representation of Black physicians in medicine, supporting equal access to quality healthcare, and keeping our membership at the forefront of eliminating health disparities in the Kentuckiana region.
